Nature + Art = MAGIC!

We knew when we brought an artist, CHAS and Balloch Castle Country Park together that magic would happen.

It certainly did! Our four banners have been designed using artwork created by the children at CHAS’s Robin House in Balloch and creative artist Laura Henderson of Good Stuff Creative. They have been installed by West Dunbartonshire Council (WDC) staff on the lamp posts on Balloch Road this week. We hope you’ll love the banners as much as we do.

Thanks to an ArtRoots Grant from Sustrans, our Regeneration Group was able to develop a partnership project with WDC and CHAS. We recruited an artist to run a nature themed workshop at Robin House children’s hospice using natural materials mainly native to Scotland including flowers, petals, leaves and twigs to create a wonderful series of illustrations celebrating hedgehogs, trees, red squirrels, birds, fish and fairies – all of which call Balloch Park home – as well as Loch Lomond and Balloch Castle.

We hope this will be the first of a series of nature and built heritage focussed art projects involving local schools and other local groups that will give people who care about Balloch Park, nature and their community opportunities to celebrate, protect and restore the natural and built assets in and around the Park.
